Beginning the day - Exercise
Sometimes I wake up from a heavy dream and catch myself doubting everything. I feel angry, fearful or disappointed and question the value of whatever I’m planning and doing. In moments like this, I don’t just wipe away this feeling and go to work. I take time to sit down by the ocean and take a deep breath. I notice how flat my breath is – as flat as my horizon. It helps to look at the ocean to widen my vision again. All this was about something. What am I doing all this for? The ocean looks at me with millions of sparkling eyes and I always get the same answer: do whatever you do with love or don’t do it at all. If you want to help a friend out of love, do it – or else say no. If you can do the dishes with love, do them – or else leave them dirty.
Check your intentions. Why are you working so hard? Why is it you want to make all this money? If you can find love at the root of all your endeavors, you are on the right path. This love will come back to you thousand fold and enrich you, more than any monetary gain can. If your actions seed love in other people’s or creature’s hearts, it will come back to you multiplied. Love everything around you: the place that houses you, your clothes that warm you, the food that nourishes you, your transportation of choice. Be grateful. Love everything inside you: your strength and courage as well as your weakness and vanity. Embrace everything inside and outside of you as is, with love and gratefulness. Only then start the day and go about “your business”.
